Account Manager- Post Secondary (MD / DE / DC / Eastern PA Territories)

Job Summary

Account Managers are responsible for conducting sales calls to two-year colleges along with four year universities within the assigned sales territory to sell and market Paradigm product lines for Computer and Business Technology, Health Careers, and Accounting. Account Managers will provide in-service overview training for teachers who have adopted Paradigm programs, set up, and manage all relevant territory and state level exhibits and conferences, and submit weekly reports to Sales Manager regarding sales activities and territory / market trends.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meet and exceed sales goals for product lines within the assigned sales territory
    • Consistently demonstrate the ability to effectively present and sell products to groups of customers
    • Consistently demonstrate the ability to sell across the entire company product line, including supplementary and non-adopted products
    • Consistently demonstrate product knowledge with respect to new and existing supplementary materials
    • Consistently demonstrate a command, curiosity, and aptitude in the areas of technology, multiple media, and the internet
    • Consistently demonstrate knowledge and ability to sell product line software 
    • Demonstrate company technology to customers as a part of the sales process
  • Working in conjunction with the Regional Manager, develop, maintain, provide, and execute a territory plan, which must include information on sales opportunities, sales pipeline, closed sales, and customer/market trends
  • Travel extensively within the sales territory to call on customers and attend conferences
  • Effectively qualify leads and sales opportunities to ensure effective time and budget management
  • Develop, maintain, and effectively utilizes customer lists and databases. Review, interpret, and evaluate customer information and sales data to develop and follow a data-driven territory management plan
  • Create and continually update a sales plan that identifies target customers and maximizes revenue within the assigned territory

Education and Experience Qualifications

  • 4 year college degree (Bachelor’s Degree) is required
  • Must possess a minimum of two years sales experience with proven track record of results in outside/inside sales

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated sales ability with track record of sales success
  • Ability to build strong and productive working relationships with customers/clients, including ability to gain and maintain client trust
  • Experience with Salesforce.com is preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of common software applications and uses, including Operating Systems, MS Office Applications, Internet Browsers, Adobe Acrobat, and CRM-type applications. Ability to learn new software applications as they appear in the market and stay current with technology a must
  • Self-directed, with ability to plan own activities to achieve sales goals
  • Excellent presentation skills are required
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent time management and relationship management skills
  • Residence within the boundaries of the assigned sales territory is preferred
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record
  • On occasion, must be able to repeatedly lift at least 50 lbs (product includes textbooks)
  • Good personal computer skills required
  • Requires 50% overnight travel
